  2. #2 Places with the Best Public Schools in MarylandPotomacSuburb in Maryland•Rating 4.23 out of 5 86 reviewsCurrent Resident: Potomac is a fantastic place to live! Not only is everything in Potomac within a convenient twenty minute car ride to each other and major highways, but it is also an exceptionally beautiful area. I am constantly blown away by the architecture, infrastructure, and natural beauty I encounter on a daily basis in Potomac. Its only weakness is its inhabitants. By this, I do not mean that the people of Potomac are at all unkind, aggressive or unpleasant in any way. However, they do seem a bit too self-absorbed in public. I have had the experience numerous times of saying hello to my neighbors while walking down the street, and being completely ignored. This small adjustment alone would improve life in Potomac, and would complement its unique convenience and aesthetic beauty nicely.... 3. #3 Places with the Best Public Schools in MarylandCabin JohnSuburb in Maryland•Rating 4 out of 5 5 reviewsCurrent Resident: Cabin John is the little area in between Potomac and Bethesda. You've probably never really heard of it. It's an amazing place to live for people with a family. However, diversity is extremely low. Most of the people around you are white and affluent people. Some of whom can be nice, but a lot of the times people seem to keep to themselves. The schools here are very good, whether that be private or public school. I've attended both the private schools and public and personally I found that my experience at private school was much better than that of public school. Night life, well, there is not much to do around here for night life. There are restaurants, but everything will be 15 minutes or more away. Overall, if you're trying to start a family in a really safe area this is the place for you. Otherwise, this might not be a place to call home.... We rented our house and got the opportunity to buy it later. It is a peaceful neighborhood where kids can walk/bike safely. We are a large family of 4 kids, a dog and parents, we have good space and a great backyard to fit comfortably all of us. The public schools in the area are great, we have Silver Creek MS very close for the middle school teens - school was built less than 5 years ago. BCC for HS and Chevy Chase Elementary. Everything is close, public transportation stops all over Cedar, making it easy to go to the Medical Center subway station. Safe, quiet, peaceful, full of nature. A great place to live.... 14. #13 Places with the Best Public Schools in MarylandNorth PotomacSuburb in Maryland•Rating 4.06 out of 5 81 reviewsCurrent Resident: North Potomac is a very middle class and suburban area. The peace and quiet this area seems to have makes it all the more preferable compared to othe city areas. Residents here are rarely roudy and aggressive; they are friendly and welcoming people. My neighbors in particular are very much friendly and warm as they welcomed my family with in-person greetings and gifts of food when we first moved into the area. Although the variety and quality of restaurants and chains are not that all extraordinary, they are still likable. As I am Korean and many who also seem to be the same living in the area, I wish there were more varieties of Korean restaurants and supermarkets nearby. Not only this, I wish there were more attractions or eventful places here. To have fun, my family or my friends always have to travel out of the city.... 18. #17 Places with the Best Public Schools in MarylandEllicott CitySuburb of Baltimore, MD•Rating 4.28 out of 5 291 reviewsCurrent Resident: Ellicott City has a lot to offer! There is a variety of food to choose from like classic American all the way to Korean. We also have some parks like Centennial and Patapsco that occur some outdoor activities! Additionally, we have Old Ellicott City that has many small businesses and restaurants that Gordan Ramsey himself came to help after the floods. On another note, Ellicott City is in Howard County and the public school system is fantastic! On the other hand, some downsides of the suburb is that the although we have lots of parks, we don't really have many other activities to do. Another downside is that the traffic during peak hour can be horrendous, especially on the 29. I find that Ellicott City sometimes do not have the greatest of drivers and they tend to block the intersections and so no one can move.... There is a nice balance of city and nature that's close by. Not only is the atmosphere great. The transit system is fairly reliable although I do wish that the roads were a little wider for the buses. The town may need more college hangout spots or maybe a spot that opened past 9. Almost all the business in town are opened mid morning and close early evening. As someone who goes to the college nearby, it's difficult to be up late and hungry or bored to go do something without a car. The community is very close-knit and tend to have multiple events inviting the entire town. I also love seeing the farmers market on Sunday mornings, or the weekend festivals....
