About the SAP Fiori Launchpad on Portal (2024)

End users can access the SAP Fiori launchpad on Portal on both desktop and mobiledevices. The launchpad is role-based, displaying tiles according to the userrole.

In the launchpad, the home page is the entry point to applications. Thehome page displays often-used tiles or favorite tiles, each tile representing a businessapplication that the user can launch. Tiles can display live status indicators, such asthe number of open tasks.

The tile catalog is a collection of tiles that end users can launch andadd to their home page.

When end users first open the home page, it may already contain some content added by theadministrator, or it may be empty.

Note

Some of the features provided in the SAP Fiori launchpad are not currently available inPortal. For more information, see 2031108 About the SAP Fiori Launchpad on Portal (1).

Personalization

Administrators configure whether or not end users can personalize the home page.

Administrators can also lock one group of tiles to prevent personalization. If a group islocked, end users will not be able to add tiles to or remove tiles from the group, and will not be able to reorder tiles within the group.

If a group is a predefined group, that is, it contains tiles with the propertyDefault App on Home Page selected, end users cannotdelete it but they can personalize it and reset their changes. Changes that theadministrator makes to predefined groups will not be visible to the end user unlessone of the following occurs:

  • The administrator clears the personalization.

  • The end user resets the group.

  • The end user or updates the home page to synchronize it with theadministrator changes.

When an end user logs on to the SAP Fiori launchpad for the first time, the home page state issaved. Changes that end users make to the home page are saved per device group.Saving changes enables end users to personalize their home page in one way formobile devices and in another way for desktops, according to the device groupsconfigured by the administrator.
