De United Foods Industries Limited, Noodle Division, started its operation in year 1996 at Ota, Ogun State, is the first instant noodles manufacturing plant in Nigeria and the largest in Africa at that time.

DUFIL PRIMA FOODS PLC was incorporated in 2001 as a private limited liability company at Choba, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Upon completion of a restructuring exercise the company was converted to Public limited company and became the holding company of the group in year 2008.

The existence of the facility arises due to the growing demand for the product from the consumers of the region and the nation. The objective is to provide fresh and quality product to the consumers.

Dufil Prima Food PLC. started as a joint venture between Tolaram Group of Singapore and Salim Group of Indonesia with a 50:50 shareholding until 2018. As of today, the management of Dufil comprises of Salim Group of Indonesia along with Tolaram Africa Foods Pvt. Ltd. (which is a JV between Tolaram Group of Singapore and Kelloggs’s from United States).

Salim Group is the Majority shareholder of PT Indofoods Sukes Makmur, a listed company in Indonesia which owns the Indomie trademark, technology, and expertise in instant noodle manufacturing. Tolaram Africa current business in Nigeria comprises of companies in several business sectors – manufacturing, marketing and sales of consumer goods, carpet products, infrastructure projects, logistics transportation and general trading.

Adhi Narto
Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer

Joined the Group in 2001 as a Project Manager and later became the Factory Manager of the Port Harcourt Plant. He Has over 20 years of professional experience in various food businesses including Supply Chain Management, Quality Assurance, Project Management and Operations. He was the COO of the Group before his current appointment as the Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer of the Group.He has a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and Master's Degree in Industrial Management from Bandung Institute of Technology, Indonesia.

Chief Operating Officer

Adesh Jain joined Tolaram Group in 2003 as Finance Manager and has headed various projects, branches, departments and businesses within the group ever since. Before being promoted as the Chief Operating officer of Dufil, he was the General Manager of Power Oil and Emperor Oil (Africa).

Narayan Agarwal
Chief Finance Officer

Narayan joined the Group in May 2010 as Finance Controller in Dufil Corporate. Since then he has been assigned several responsibilities, learning the complete business. Before being assigned the Chief Financial Officer of Dufil, he was heading the Flour Business.Narayan played an instrumental role in growing the Flour business and making Dufil the 3rd largest flour miller in Nigeria. Prior to joining Tolaram Group, Narayan worked with Price Waterhouse Coopers in India. Narayan is a Company Secretary (2008), Chartered Accountant (2009) and graduate from Calcutta University (2006).

He is responsible for Human Resource of DUFIL GROUP.Previously worked as Personnel Manager in Nigeria Machine Tools Limited, Seven Up Bottling Company, Carnaud Metal Box and Nigeria Biscuits company Limited.Chief Kola holds a B.Sc. Degree in Political Science from the University of Ife and Masters Degree in Industrial & Labor Relations from the University of Ibadan.

Dufil Prima Foods Plc (the Company) was initially incorporated as Dufil Prima Foods Limited on December 19, 2001 to manufacture Indomie Instant noodles. It owns a Noodle factory that is situated in Choba, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

In 2008, the Company was converted to a Public Limited Company (PLC) and by a major restructuring; it became the holding Company of De United Foods Industries Limited and Insignia Print Technology LFTZ Enterprise, which were at the time the only subsidiaries of the Company.

The Company and its Subsidiaries have the exclusive rights over the use of the ‘Indomie’ brand in Nigeria. The brand has been assigned to it by Indofood Sukses Makmur Tbk of Indonesia, the world largest producers of Noodles.

Indomie is the first brand that pioneered and developed the instant noodles market in Nigeria. Today, a dynamic and rapidly growing market exists for instant noodles. Market research data consistently shows ‘Indomie’ as one of the top consumer brands in Nigeria. It ranked number one on the brand equity index in Nigeria – ahead of other well known brands such as co*ke and Maggi. The unique and very tasty combination of seasonings makes ‘Indomie’ the superior instant noodle brand not only in Nigeria but in other countries as well.

By a Joint Venture Partnership between Tolaram Group and Salim Group, De United was incorporated in Nigeria in 1993 and commissioned its first Factory in Ota in 1996, wherein Instant Noodles was produced for the first time ever in Nigeria.

The company owns and operates the state of the art noodle plant in Sango – Ota, about 30 km from Lagos. By restructuring, De United became a subsidiary of Dufil Prima Foods Plc.

As part of its backward integration, in 2008 the Company established a state of the art factory in Ota Ogun state to manufacture seasoning (De United –Seasoning Division). Prior to this time, its seasoning was imported.

NNL is the Company’s third and the most recent state-of-the-art automation noodle manufacturing factory commissioned in Kaduna in year 2011. NNL has historically broke the record in the Dufil group because it was the quickest completed project so far, also it was the first ever fully automated plant from start to finish i.e. flour handling silo system to auto carton casing. The company doubled its production capacity within a span of six month. The objective of the company is to provide fresh and quality product to the consumers of the Northern and Central part of Nigeria.

Insignia as a subsidiary of the Company started in year 2007 at Lagos Free Trade Zone, Lekki, Lagos; it is the Company’s first initiative towards backward integration.

Insignia has a state of the art wrapper manufacturing plant wherein its supplies flexible packaging material to meet DUFIL Group’s need and also caters to the needs of other manufacturers.

Our goal is to provide our customers with flexible packaging solutions that will protect and extend shelf-life in an attractive consumer friendly design with international quality standards.

PFM which was incorporated in 2010 as another initiative towards the backward integration of the Company is divided into three Divisions:

  • Flour Division started in year 2012 at Choba, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The company presently supplies flour to Dufil Prima Foods Plc and Pasta division.
  • Pasta Division started in year 2012 at Choba, Port Harcourt, Rivers State as well. The division manufactures ‘Power Pasta’ brand of long spaghetti. It is a new product offering from DUFIL apart from Indomie instant noodle. The company has a fully automated line from M/s FAVA, Italy.
  • Snacks Division started in year 2014 at Choba, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The Division manufactures ‘Minimie’ brand of Chinchin.

Raffles is another backward integration initiative of the Group which is into refining palm oil. The Palm Oil refinery is located at Lagos Free Trade Zone, Lekki and it began operations in 2013. The objective of the company is to operate as an independent company catering for the group’s vegetable oil needs and also to explore the Nigerian retail market in general.
