How to run MRP automatically in SAP? ›

The terms "running the planning worksheet" or "running MRP" refer to calculating the master production schedule and material requirements. The calculation is based on actual and forecasted demand.

Normally MRP run will happen daily in background mode by tcode MDBT. MRP run will change depends on company applications.

The planned requirement quantities trigger the MRP calculation. In MRP, the requirements elements include sales orders, planned independent requirements, material reservations, the dependent requirements created by exploding the BOM, and so on.

MRP Types can be categorized in to 2 major categories, namely Material Requirement planning and consumption based planning. In material requirement planning, the planning is based on the master plan designed for a material through planned independent requirements or through incoming sales order demands.

If the item is to be procured, then MRP will create a purchase req which the Buyer will convert to a purchase order. This is just one scenario, the system is highly configurable and will do pretty much whatever you tell based on config and master data.

In short, an MRP, or Materials Requirements Planning, is used to determine how many materials to order for a particular item, while an MPS, or Master Production Schedule, is used to determine when the materials will be used to produce an item.

MRP steps include identifying requirements, checking inventory, scheduling production, and identifying issues.

What is the SAP MRP run? SAP MRP stands for Material Requirements Planning and is a standard SAP process. The MRP run ensures the availability of materials for production and purchasing in the company by determining the requirements.

In the initial MRP Run ( MD02 ) , you need to put on the " Display Results ". Then you will be able to see results during the Planning run itself. Next you can see the results of each material in MD05 which is a static list i.e. no changes will be made to the list until next Planning run.

Go to VOV5-assign schedule line categories. Here you select your new item category as ZTAN, MRP type and the schedule line TS. In schedule line TS the order type has an entry 'NB' - Purchase requisition. This field enables the system to automatically generate a purchase requisition whenever you save a sales order.
