Change Nest Protect Wi-Fi network (2024)

If you change your router's settings, Wi-Fi password, or install a new router, you need to update the Wi-Fi information on your Google Nest Protect(s).

Tip: If you give your new home network the same network name (SSID) and password as the previous one, your Nest products will automatically reconnect.

If your Nest products don't reconnect to your new network automatically, or you want to use a new network name or password, you need to update the Wi-Fi information on each of your Nest Protects in the Nest app.

Update Protect's Wi-Fi information

2nd gen Nest Protect

  1. On the Nest app home screen, tap Settings Change Nest Protect Wi-Fi network (1).

  2. Select your Protect.

  3. Under "Device options," tap Wi-Fi connection.

  4. Tap Next. Nest will attempt to connect to your Protect, and it will start looking for nearby Wi-Fi networks.

  5. Select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password. Your Protect should automatically reconnect.

Troubleshoot

If you get an error when you add your Nest Protect back to the app, go to Troubleshoot when Nest Protect disconnects or is offline.
