I worked for an amusem*nt park for 9 days just until the school kids got out of school. Let me tell you, i have a whole new respect for the kids that work there all summer.

And I have a new respect for all of the people that work fast food! It is hard work to stand on a hard floor for that many hours day in and day out! One day, I will buy some inserts for someone that doesn’t have the best of shoes that works in fast food. I would come home at night and my feet hurt so bad. I am older than they are, but feet are kind of a big deal.

What are Chocolate Swig Cookies with Cookie Dough Frosting?

  • Chocolate Swig Cookies are basically a chocolate sugar cookie.
  • They were inspired by the cookies that a place called Swig makes, but they call their cookies Dirt Balls.
  • I love cookie dough and frosting, so I decided that I would make these cookies even better by adding a Cookie Dough Frosting!

So one day I got to work at 9:15 a.m. We had school kids come that were celebrating their Senior year and we had a lot of schools come to the amusem*nt park. The kids would come starting at 10:30 a.m. and leave at 3:00 p.m. One day, we made 800 drinks with pop! Wow, that is a lot of pop and boy was I tired when I got home.

I grew up on a farm and we were poor. When we ate out 2 times a year, we would order the cheapest thing on the menu and we always ordered water. Also we would never think about paying $3.00 for a cookie. That being said, sometimes it is just fun to get to have a pop and a cookie once or twice a year!

I tried this. Cooked for 11 minutes. I had to add a very tiny amount of corn syrup to top of cooled cookies to get the icing to stick. This worked very well. My icing was rather dry and stiff as well, so I probably used 6 or 7 teaspoons of milk. I recommend supporting your cookies on your flattened hand while icing in case they are breakable like mine were. My recommendations are also to add a pinch or 2 of salt to the icing and use dark brown sugar if you want an extra cookie dough taste, and use a heaping measurement of cocoa in the cookies because… well, chocolate. These were amazing!! Thank you!

How long to age chocolate chip cookie dough? ›

Ripening is just a fancy term for resting cookie dough in the fridge before baking it. Some recipes call for a quick chilling, while others recommend up to 72 hours of resting before baking them. This resting time does two crucial things for cookies. First, it allows the fat in the cookies to chill and firm up.

Why do many chocolate chip cookie recipes contain baking soda and brown sugar? ›

As the butter melts, the cookie's structure loosens, so that the water in the dough is able to combine with the baking soda, dissolving it. The baking soda then reacts to the acidic components present in brown sugar, creating gases that cause the cookie to rise.

How to bake packaged cookie dough? ›

HEAT oven to 350°F (or 325°F for nonstick cookie sheet). PLACE cookie dough rounds about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. BAKE 10 to 14 minutes or until light golden brown. COOL 2 minutes; remove from cookie sheet.

How to jazz up store-bought cookies? ›

Insert food-safe wooden crafts sticks into sandwich creme cookies. Dip cookies into melted bittersweet chocolate chips. Add chocolate-covered pretzels for ears, candy eyeballs and a cinnamon imperial for the nose.

Is it better to leave cookie dough overnight? ›

As a general rule of thumb, you should refrigerate cookie dough for at least 30 minutes and up to 24 hours. More than that, and you won't see a noticeable difference in the final product. Once the dough has chilled, let it warm up at room temperature until it's just pliable (about 5 to 10 minutes).

What happens if you don't chill cookie dough? ›

Popping your dough in the fridge allows the fats to cool. As a result, the cookies will expand more slowly, holding onto their texture. If you skip the chilling step, you're more likely to wind up with flat, sad disks instead of lovely, chewy cookies. Cookies made from chilled dough are also much more flavorful.

Can you leave cookies out overnight? ›

Leaving cookies out overnight poses certain risks, primarily related to food safety and quality. Cookies left out overnight are at risk of microbial contamination, especially if they contain perishable ingredients like eggs or dairy.

What does baking soda do to gray hair? ›

Regarding using baking soda for gray hair, experts endorse its potential benefits such as controlling pigmentation loss, lightening the strands, and providing texture. It can be used on coarse grey locks to make them smoother too by eliminating product buildup from oils or soaps.

What happens if you use baking powder instead of baking soda in cookies? ›

Baking powder: Baking powder can be used to replace baking soda, though not at a 1-to-1 ratio. Because the former is not as strong as the latter, it's important to use three times the amount of baking powder as baking soda. Be aware, a slightly bitter, off-putting taste might result from using that much baking powder.

What happens if you don t use baking soda in a cookie recipe? ›

You technically can leave out baking soda in certain recipes (like chocolate chip cookies or pancakes) in a pinch, but you need to understand that your finished product will not be as light and fluffy as the recipe intended. Unless you have no other option, you really should use a leavening substitute.

How long should cookie dough rest before baking? ›

Generally speaking, you should chill your cookie dough before baking it. But for how long? You want to give it at least 2 hours to chill through.

Do you flatten cookie dough before baking? ›

If the dough is chilled before baking then the cookies will be slightly more rounded, so if you want slightly flatter cookies then bake them as soon as you have mixed up the dough. But we would not recommend flattening the cookies completely as this will affect the texture.

Should I chill cookie dough before baking? ›

Chilling cookie dough before baking solidifies the fat in the cookies. As the cookies bake, the fat in the chilled cookie dough takes longer to melt than room-temperature fat. And the longer the fat remains solid, the less cookies spread.
