WIESBADEN – 85.7% of employees covered by collective agreements in Germany will receive a Christmas bonus in 2022. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that the proportion of employees covered by collective agreements and entitled to a Christmas bonus is slightly higher in eastern Germany (88.5%) than in western Germany (85.3%). The average Christmas bonus paid to employees covered by collective agreements will amount to 2,747 euros (gross) in 2022. That is an increase of 2.6% compared with 2021 (2,677 euros). On average, the Christmas bonus of employees covered by collective agreements is 6% higher in western Germany (2,768 euros) than in eastern Germany (2,611 euros).
