Use
To be able to further process a query executed in a Web application, you can export the query as a CSV or Microsoft Excel file.
Prerequisites
You have executed a query in your Web application and want to display it in a different format to continue processing the query.
Procedure
- In the context menu (using the secondary mouse button, click the text of a characteristic, characteristic value, structural component, description of exception, or description of condition), choose Broadcast and Export.
- If you want to export the data to a CSV file, choose Export to CSV. The system exports the data to a CSV file such that the query is displayed in CSV format (comma separated value). The numeric values of the query are displayed in a list and are separated with a field separator. The context of the numeric values and the original formatting are not available in the CSV file. You cannot navigate further with BW functions.
Note
- You can change the default separator ";" in Customizing (transaction SPRO) as follows: SAP Reference IMG → SAP NetWeaver → SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse → Links to Other Source Systems → Connection Between Flat File and BW System → Set Options for Uploading Flat Files → Set Field Separator for CSV File.Enter the required field separator.
- You can override the settings for the field separator for CSV files at runtime by changing the setting for the Separator for CSV Filesparameter (CSV_SEPARATOR) for the Export Web Applicationcommand. See Export Web Application .
- Note that when you export to a CSV file, all Web items in the used Web template are exported by default.
- If you want to export the data to a Microsoft Excel file, choose Export to Excel or Export to Excel 2000.
- If you use Microsoft Excel Version 2003 or higher, choose Export to Excel.
- If you use Microsoft Excel 2000, choose Export to Excel 2000.
The data is displayed in Excel format. You cannot navigate further with BW functions.
