FAQ : Marriott Bonvoy points expired - any re-instatement advice?
I mostly hid from traveling for the past 3 years due to covid and medical vulnerabilities. And I just noticed that my half a million Bonvoy points expired last month. 😢
Has anyone had luck getting points re-instated with Marriott? Any tips or advice?

Once Marriott Bonvoy® Points are forfeited, the Marriott Bonvoy® Points cannot be reinstated, but a Marriott Bonvoy® Member can earn new Marriott Bonvoy® Points, unless that Marriott Bonvoy® Members Account has been deactivated.
Past threads in this forum appear to confirm there is no exception to this rule.
Even without travel they could have been extended by CC spend or just buying points from Marriott. I know that is not helpful now but hopefully helpful to avoid a repeat occurrence in the future.

I totally missed the fact that they had only paused expirations until 12/31/2022. Mentally I'd assume it would be ongoing - I mean, sheesh 2,381 Americans perished from covid in the past week alone.

dtc - at least it would be worth an email to them via the web form to try your luck, or you could message the Marriott Lurkers (you can find them via the message function, III seems to respond a lot) on the forum. As mentioned, probably not that much hope - you were unlucky in that Marriott did pause expiry during COVID, but that was in years 1 & 2 of your inactivity.
I wouldn't make the email too long, just highlight the length of your loyalty and hope they can create an exemption, and if there was an underlying health issue that related to COVID, perhaps highlight that.

Yes, agreed, but as far as hotels are concerned, its back to normal. Except for reduced or eliminated services, of course.
Wont hurt to plead your case.

Did you submit the email from their website or through a specific email address? I submitted the request through their web and got shot down...

Click on Marriott Bonvoy Lurker User Name on this thread to send a private message. About Post #20. Sorry I don't know a more compact way to send you their contact address. Hope it works for you.

Ugh, same thing happened to me recently, realized 217K points expired at the end of Feb. I had made a redemption in September 2022 that I ended up cancelling - wouldn't that have counted as activity? Never got an email or heads up that my points were about to expire. Did I somehow hit an edge case where the redemption activity made the system think there was some activity so it didn't send me a reminder email, but ultimately it doesn't count it as qualifying activity and still expired my points? I'm going to try the lurker route, thanks for the suggestion jayer !

Marriott Bonvoy points expired a month ago: anything I can do to get them back?
Hi,
My wife and I accumulated 300k Marriotts during our days as consultants. We were due to go on a honeymoon but had to cancel due to Covid. We have always been checking but because of a kid we were not able to check and i realised our points expired last month.
Is there any way we can get the back? Any nice email escalation or consideration from Marriott?
Thanks
