FAQs - Preview App (2024)

Reels

Posted Reels show as duplicate in Preview App

Instagram just started loading posted Reels in other apps / websites.

You had probably created a “Placeholder” using Preview’s Placeholder feature.

You can now delete this Placeholder to remove the duplicate.

To know which one is the Placeholder:

  • Select one of the posted Reels in Preview
  • The menu bar will appear at the bottom of the screen
  • If you see a “Bin” icon, press it
  • If you don’t see the “Bin” icon, press the other Reels and delete it
Reels covers are not the same in Preview and Instagram (different crop)

Did you move your cover image crop differently on Instagram? And it doesn’t show the same cover in Preview?

Instagram is automatically sending your Reels covers in other apps / websites without the right crop. They are not showing the right covers yet unfortunately.

We’ll see if there is anything we can do on our end to fix it.

For now you can do this:

  • Go in your Preview settings
  • Turn off “Load Instagram posts”

Then you can use the “Placeholder” feature to upload your own covers, like this:

  • Press on the + button
  • Press “Placeholder”
  • Choose “Add image from Library” (you could screenshot your cover and crop them “square” to show exactly the part that should be your cover)

Right now that is the best way to do it.

You might not have to do all of your Reels covers. Most people like to load 9 posts to plan their feeds.

Posted Reels are not showing up in Preview?

If you have a Creator or Business Instagram account, and you want to see your posted Reels in an approved app / website (like Preview), you need to log in with a Facebook account.

If you don’t have a Facebook account, you can create one just to link to your Instagram account. A lot of people do this and never use their Facebook Page.

If you have a Facebook account, please do this:

  • Make sure you link your Facebook account to your Instagram account (go on Instagram > Edit Profile > Page)
  • Then go in your Preview app settings and login with Facebook

If you have a Personal Instagram account:

  • You can use our Placeholder Feature to safely load your Reels in Preview.
Posted Reels showing in main feed in Preview even though you posted in Reels tab on Instagram

Do you have a Business / Creator Instagram account? Or a Personal account?

If you have a Business / Creator account:

Did you post your Reels on your main feed, then removed it and only show it in your Reels tab?

If so, the Reels might still appear in the posted main feed in Preview. This is because Instagram hasn’t updated their backend system yet.

We’ve reported this issue to Instagram. We just have to wait. They usually fix issues like this quickly.

We will see if there is anything we can do on our end in the meantime.

For now, you can use the “Hide” feature in Preview to hide your Reels. Just press on it, and press on the “eye” button.

If you have a Personal Instagram account:

Instagram automatically loads all your posted Reels in other apps / websites. Whether you posted them in your main feed or Reels tab only.

This is how their backend works at the moment. Hopefully they will update it soon.

For now, you can use the “Hide” feature in Preview to hide Reels from your main feed (press on the Reels > press on the “eye” button”).

Can you auto-post Reels with Preview?

Yes you can. On the phone app and desktop.

You can auto-post as many Reels as you want. There is no limit per day, week or month.

Click here to see the step-by-step tutorial.

Can you auto-post Reels with custom cover image?

Unfortunately Instagram does not allow other apps and websites to automatically set a cover image if it is being auto-posted.

They only allow to set your own cover if you are manually uploading your video.

Hopefully Instagram will allow this soon. If they do, we’ll make sure we add this feature!

In the meantime, you have 2 options:

1) Manually post the video
This way you can manually upload your cover image.

Or

2) Add your cover image as the first frame of your video
It can be a second long (or even less). Instagram will automatically pick the first clip of your video as the cover image.
A lot of people do this, and your followers won’t notice it because it will appear too fast.
