Used to assess your cumulative knowledge from an entire program of study, a capstone test is usually administered in a final course or internship of an academic major. A capstone test is a way for faculty to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of a student, but it can also serve as the final approval for graduation.
If you happen to fail the capstone exam, don't worry! You can retake it as many times as needed to pass, without having to retake the entire course. Additionally, upon submitting the exam, any incorrect answers will be displayed, giving you valuable insight into areas that may need more focus.
They mean it when they say that the capstone course is unlike anything you have ever done in college before. It is both challenging and easy. There really aren't any tests, so there is no studying for exams. OTOH, you have to demonstrate your research and analysis skills for the good grading on this course.
Your Capstone Experience Exam will be composed of 125 multiple-choice questions, 100 of which are scored and 25 of which are not scored, that ask you to apply the knowledge you have gained in your designation courses. Each exam question offers four possible answer options.
For a capstone or thesis topic consider: Issues that are relevant to your workplace, classroom experience, or career goals. A topic that has caught your eye in your textbook, a journal article, or an issue that you explored for previous classwork or projects and would like to pursue further.
However, a capstone project may generally be considered less intensive than a thesis paper, as it typically involves the practical application of knowledge and skills, while a thesis paper requires extensive research and analysis of a specific topic.
