  • Yudi , the supreme shenxian in the mythos of Daoism. He rules over tianting and renjian, has one daughter (or seven, depending on variants of myth), and is among the most widely revered shenxians. [source?]
  • Sun Wukong, an immortal shenxian who looks like a monkey, mentioned in a famous fiction called Xiyou Ji (Journey to The West). Although he was not originally in the mythos of Daoism, many folk religions worshipped him.[1]
  • The Dragon Gods, shenxians with the forms of dragons, often being mistaken for nagas in the mythos of Brahminism and Buddhism.[2]

History[]

In Secrets of the Furious Five[]

While telling Viper's backstory, Po mentions how vipers are said to be descended from dragons, whose flaming breaths evolved into venom.

In Legends of Awesomeness[]

In the episode "Serpent's Tooth", Fu-xi is revealed to be a descendant of the Dragon Gods.

In The Paws of Destiny[]

In "Curse of the Monkey King", Sun Wukong makes his appearance and explains how the other shenxians imprisoned him in the abandoned red jade mines after being accused of stealing the red jade of Lang Gong.

Li later mentions Yudi when he tries praying for his and his company's escape from peril.

Trivia[]

  • Most of the shenxians mentioned in the Kung Fu Panda franchise were not known by most of the Chinese people during Pre-Qin Period. Daoism, which later became the main religion in China, appeared during the late reign of the Western Han Empire (202 B.C.E. - 8 C.E.). The prototype of the image of Yudi was the image of Dong Wanggong. Yudi was confirmed to be the supreme shenxian during the reign of the Emperor of the Northern Song Empire, Huizong of Song (7 June 1082 C.E. – 4 June 1135 C.E.). Before that, most of the Chinese people deemed Hao Tian Shangdi, who was the supreme shenling in the mythos of Confucianism, to be the most high ruler of the world.
