The International Rugby League (IRL) has unveiled nine groundbreaking rule changes for the 2026 season, set to revolutionize the game and impact Hull FC, Hull KR, and the community game. These changes, designed to enhance the sport's fluidity, clarity, and player safety, have been meticulously crafted by the IRL Laws Advisory Group, comprising esteemed representatives from governing bodies worldwide. The changes include: Locking the ball into the scrum, Packing the scrum, Grounding the ball, Active and passive offside, Player safety, Playing the ball (1), Playing the ball (2), Rugby union-style mauls, Blocking, and an additional women's change of 10 interchanges for senior international matches.
