Fuming Over Power Cut, Kerala Man Sabotages Transformers
A frustrated Kerala man, incensed by the disconnection of his electricity due to unpaid bills, took matters into his own hands. He removed the fuses from seven transformers, plunging parts of Kasaragod town into darkness. The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) confirmed the incident, which occurred around 6:45 p.m. on Friday, affecting the town and its surroundings.
The KSEB official reported receiving multiple calls about the outage, but upon investigation, no issues were found on the power lines. A subsequent inspection revealed the missing fuses, found abandoned nearby. The official stated, 'We had to use spare fuses to restore electricity by 8 p.m., as some were damaged.'
Residents informed KSEB staff that they witnessed the man removing the fuses. The suspect, a resident of the Nellikuzi section, had previously caused a disturbance at the section office after his power supply was cut off for non-payment. The police detained him for questioning, and he claimed to have mental health issues and live with his elderly father.
The KSEB officials plan to file a complaint, as the incident caused a significant outage lasting over an hour. This incident highlights the complex relationship between utility companies and their customers, especially when disconnections occur due to financial disputes.
