Works fine and is installed into the side of the kitchen island. Difficult to see the menu screen unless there's good ambient light and you're eye level to controls. Nevertheless a good alternative to allow for a cleaner design over the stove

We bought this for our kitchen remodel and it works great. Just make sure you put it somewhere you won't brush up against often. Only thing I would change is to add a tilt capability to the button setup, my husband and I are tall and it is a bit of a pain to bend over to find the buttons.

The heating element( magnetron?) went out after about 18 months. The warranty is for 12. I have owned several less expensive models that outlasted this one. I thought I was buying a higher end product and was seriously wrong. When I remodeled my kitchen I purchased a microwave, double oven and refrigerator which were all Kitchen Aid.

Got microwave and was worried it would be hard to read controls. Sure enough it is quite difficult to read the controls. Also, we sometimes bump up against the controls and either cause it to flash an error or the door opens. It's not a hudge problem just a design flaw. Also, on the top face where the controls should be there are crimp joints in the stainless steel the show more than I think they should. Looks like little dents in the metal.

This microwave works fine, but is not intuitive on any front. You cannot adjust the beeper volume. Not a big deal except when everyone is sleeping and you want to reheat your coffee and the beeper wakes them. It does not have the instant time buttons for 30 seconds or push the 1 number for 1 minute and 2 for 2 minutes, etc... a simple feature that I used to used all the time. And lastly, a under countertop microwave is just plain inconvenient... it looks cool but is too difficult to use because it is too low and one has to bend over or get on your knee to put item in and take them out.

Overall very happy with the microwave drawer. Love the convenience. Not quite as powerful as our old microwave (a large over-the-range style), but with good space. The only complaint is the control placement. Anytime someone touches the microwave as they pass it, or while working at the counter or reaching for the higher shelves, it activates. We now keep a bowl of water in the oven to prevent disaster...Sharp solved the problem by having a "flip out" control panel (which also prevents having to lean over to see the controls). Hopefully KitchenAid will try something similar.

Installed 2 months ago. Heats food evenly. Have to bend down to see controls well. Biggest issue is how sensitive the controls are. I've leaned against them ever-so-slightly and they activate. I've bumped into the "open" button more times than I'd like to admit. Thankfully, there is a lock function, which puts the control panel in "sleep" mode.

So happy to have bought this microwave for our newly renovated kitchen. It's powerful, easy to use and such a space saver. In stead of an ugly sit on the counter mic or configured with the oven, we were able to put it into our center island so it saves so much usable space for other appliances and counter top space. Great!

They're aren't many choices in the microwave drawer category so I choose to go with a name I was familiar with. I do like the open and close feature for when hands are full. There are plenty of options for cooking. A few reviews have mentioned the lack of light-up buttons but that has not been an issue at all for me. So far I have been very pleased at how this microwave has functioned.

Just received and installed the Microwave. So I can review operation of the microwave. But, the button options are not back lit and you can't read them. The are not even in white bold face they are light gray. I don't understand why they would not light up especially when you have to bend down to use since this is under the counter.

We just finished with a kitchen remodel the end of March, love the sleek look, the performance of this microwave is awesome, love the sensor cook option, it cooks potatoes and sweet potatoes perfectly, This option also stops automatically for you to check on them to make sure that they don't over cook Wow! Problem solved!!! There's only one thing I recommend is that you install some type of LED light to light up the cooking options that are on the outside with the clock, you have to bend down to see the different cooking options clearly, which is a little bit inconvenient, otherwise this is a great product, keep providing us with great products and customer service.

This is our first under counter microwave. Previous above counter models received plenty of light from the ceiling lights, but now that the microwave is under the counter, the ceiling lights don't light it. Only when we tried to use it for the first time did we realize that the only button that is back-lit is the timer. All others are simply written on to the front, but not backlit. We can't see any of them, and have to use a flashlight. I can't tell you how frustrating this is! We love everything else about it.
