Process -- Make decisions about the physical production process,technology, and layout.
Capacity -- Decide on sufficient output capacityfor the organization, not too low and not excessive. Plans may be overshort- medium- or long-term. Forecasting, facilities, planning, aggregateplanning and control all come under this decision area.
Inventory -- An important asset that must be managed by operations.Decisions here are made about how much to order and when to order. Logisticaldecisions are made on raw materials, work in process, or finished goods.
Work force -- Responsibilities include linemanagement, productivity improvement, work measurement, and work design.
Quality --Operations function is responsible for the qualityof goods and services produced. Emphasis is on planning and control ofquality.
