Low-Sodium Homemade Ranch Seasoning Mix (1)

Store-bought Ranch seasoning mixes are insanely expensive. Am I right?! Not to mention, they contain endless weird, unknown ingredients. So, this homemade Ranch seasoning mix is a fantastic, better-for-you alternative!

I usually double the recipe and keep a jar of it in my pantry for quick, flavorful meals throughout the week.

The Best Ranch Seasoning Mix Recipe

I tend to use a lot of seasoning mixes in my crock pot recipes. The One and Only Crock Pot Chicken and Crock Pot Salsa Verde Shredded Beef are two of my favorite ways to use this blend.

Nothing is worse than a bland protein source! Luckily, this spice mix is an easy way to add dimension and flavor! Promise, you won’t regret using it.

I also like to mix a couple of teaspoons into a little plain Greek yogurt and dip veggies in it for an afternoon snack.

Most of us are super busy and tend to not want to take the time to make a lot of our foods and condiments from scratch. But I believe this Homemade Ranch Seasoning is worth it. Plus, it requires only a few minutes of prep time to whip up.

Plus, this seasoning mix is salt-free. My father-in-law recently started eating a low-sodium diet. So, this recipe is perfect for him and any other salt-sensitive friends and family. They can season chicken breasts, vegetables, and fish, enjoying their favorite foods with plenty of flavor.

How to Make Low-Sodium Ranch Seasoning

Below is an overview of the ingredients and instructions for this recipe. Be sure to scroll down to the recipe card below for the complete details and nutritional information!

Ingredients

I love this article by Food Babe that highlights the harmful ingredients hiding in our spice cabinets and four ways to buy them safely.

We are so fortunate to have a great health food coop where we can buy spices from bulk bins, and they always seem so fresh!

That said, you can easily find the ingredients for this recipe at your local grocery store.

  • dried parsley flakes
  • garlic powder
  • dill weed
  • onion powder or flakes
  • dried basil
  • ground black pepper

Note: Feel free to add buttermilk powder, dried dill, or powder salt to suit your flavor preferences! Buttermilk powder will make the blend a little richer in flavor. This is ideal when making a homemade Ranch dressing recipe or flavoring mayonnaise sour cream mixtures.

Instructions

  1. Add all the ingredients to a jar or airtight container.
  2. Shake or whisk to combine.
  3. Use right away, or store the seasoning mix for later!

How Long Does Homemade Ranch Seasoning Mix Last?

For the best results, store your seasoning mix in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will stay fresh for one to two months.

The easiest way to test your mix for freshness is to give it a sniff! If the herbs and spices still smell bold and fragrant, it’s great to use. However, if your Ranch seasoning has a dull aroma or no smell, it’s best to make a fresh batch.

How Much Ranch Seasoning Equals One Packet?

Three tablespoons typically equal the amount of Ranch seasoning in a store-bought packet. Be sure to check the ingredients and instructions for details on any recipe you’re making!

Ways to Use This Easy Homemade Ranch Seasoning Mix

I don’t know about you, but I love Ranch-flavored everything! In my opinion, there’s not much this recipe doesn’t pair well with. However, some of my favorite ways to put it to use include:

  • Homemade Ranch Dip
  • Roasted Potatoes
  • One Pot Easy Taco Soup Recipe
  • Healthy Homemade Chicken Nuggets

How would it be to mix into 1lb. Of ground chicken and make chicken pattys? Or would it be better mixed into mayo with a little bit of milk for a sauce for the chicken sandwich itself?

I love that it has no added sodium. My brother had to give up ranch dressing due to a low sodium diet. Do you have any more no sodium recipes?

Hi Myrna, thanks for stopping by! I am glad you found this recipe useful. Most of my recipes would be considered low sodium because they are homemade and you can control the amount of salt you add. Most whole foods, clean eating, Paleo recipes are low sodium. Convenience food and packaged food is typically high sodium because of the preservatives to extend the shelf-life.I hope this was helpful!
