What is ParentSquare?

ParentSquare is an easy-to-use communication tool that combines multiple communication streams into one easy-to-use interface for families and staff.

Here’s what you can do with ParentSquare:

  • Receive messages from the school via email, text or mobile app notification
  • Two-way texting with translation between staff and families
  • Choose to receive information as it comes, or all at once at 6 pm daily

Activation and Login

As a family member, you can register with ParentSquare inthree ways.

  1. Use the email message or text message sent to you by the school to activate your account.
  2. Visit the ParentSquare website and use the email account or phone number you have on record with your school to activate a new account.
  3. Download the ParentSquare app on your iOS or Android phone and request activitation.

Note: Families that have not registered for ParentSquare will receive an invitation to join before the start of school.

1. Activate your account from the email or text message sent by your school.

Your school will send an invitation email or text to join ParentSquare. Users can click the link to activate their account.

2. Activate your account on theParentSquare websiteand use the email account or phone number you have on record with your school to activate a new account.

3.Activate your account on the ParentSquare mobile app:

1) Open up the ParentSquare App. Enter your email or cell phone number. The email and/or cell phone number should match what is in your school's information system or database.

Note: If your email or phone number is not recognized by ParentSquare, you can 'Request Access' or call your school office and ask them to update your contact information.

2) Next, create your password and confirm your password. Click Continue.

3) You will receive a registration code via email or text. Enter your registration code and click 'Verify'. This will take you to your ParentSquare home feed!

Note:If your registration link has expired, a new one will need to be sent to you. Please contact your school's admin and ask for a new link to be sent to you.

Verify Contact Information

VerifyingYour Contact Information in ParentSquare

WithPure Contact, contacts are verified to ensure that you are sending communication to the right user.Users will be prompted to verify their contact information at login. If user does not verify at sign in, they canverify later.They can:

  • Verify their email/phone -confirmation code is sent
  • Edit their email/phone -correction is verified
  • Confirm their children

Verify in Web Browser

  1. Log in to your main ParentSquare account.
  2. If you have unverified contact information, you will see one or more contact cards under, Action Required: Confirm Your Account Information. Click:
    • Confirm Email or Phone: A verification code will be sent to the email or phone number. Enter verification code into ParentSquare to confirm.
    • Edit Email or Phone: Correct your email and/or phone number. A verification code will be sent to your corrected email or phone number. Enter verification code into ParentSquare to confirm.
    • Skip For Now:You will be able to verify or correct your contact information the next time you sign in.
  3. Confirm Child(ren): SelectCorrectorRemove/Editfor each child.
  4. ClickYes, this is meorThis is Not Me.

5. If you clickedSkip For Nowon any information on a contact card, you will not see the choice, "Yes, This is Me", and must selectSkip For NoworThis is Not Me.

6. Your school is notified of corrections in order to update their student information system (SIS). After school updates information, it will show in your account. Depending on your school’s settings, you may see the corrected email or phone number immediately in your account or the following day.

Verify in Mobile App

  1. Log in to your main ParentSquare account.

How to Verify If You 'Skipped for Now'

  1. The next time you sign out and then sign in again, you'll be asked to verify your contact information.
  2. OR, when you are signed in to ParentSquare, click onyour namein the upper right and selectMy Account.Go to the yellow box, "Missing kids, schools or contact info?" and selectConfirm Contact Info.

Manage Notification Settings

Notification Settings

Overview

Users can fine tune their notification settings for both school and notification type. For General Announcements, you can select Digest, Instant, or choose to turn off notifications altogether (excluding emergency alerts and notices) foremail, text, and app notifications.

These settings allow a secondary parent/guardian contact to turn off all notification except for emergency alerts (particularly useful if their partner parent/guardian manages school-related daily activities).

ParentSquare allows users to customize their notifications based on notification type and select their preferred delivery method for each school. TheInstantsetting will send all post notifications in real-time. TheDigestsetting sends direct messages, alerts, and time-sensitive posts instantly, but sends all non-time sensitive posts at the end of the day, reducing the number of notifications you receive daily. (We recommend the Digest setting.)

Notification types include:

  • Emergency Alerts & Noticesincludes any urgent alerts and attendance notices(cannot be disabled).
  • General Announcements & Messagesincludes any posts, direct messages and reminders.
  • School Alertsincludes any Smart Alerts and other student notices.

For General Announcements, you can select whether you want to receiveInstantorDigestnotifications.

  • Off:no notifications about posts will be sent to you. Emergency Alerts and Notices will still be sent, and School Alerts if turned on.
  • Instant:you'll receive an email and/or text and/or an app notification every time a notice or message is sent.
  • Digest:you'll receive an email and/or text and/or an app notification once a day in the evening with all posts from that day.

The default setting is typically Digest, so that you receive all notices and messages in one convenient notification once a day. All emergency notifications still come through instantly, and a school can override settings as needed for an urgent message. If you choose Instant notifications, and have multiple children in multiple schools, that can add up to a lot of messages.

  3. Choose your preferred Notification Settings for General Announcements & Messages (Off, Instant or Digest) and School Alerts (On or Off). Once you've made selections, future messaging will send based on your preferences.

  4. If you have multiple emails or phones listed on your account, set the order of your preferred contacts to receive notifications. Notifications will only be sent to one email and one phone on your account.

    Note: the “Choose Best Match” setting will select the most relevant email and phone to send the notification to. Notifications related to the student/parent will go to the personal email/phone, while notifications intended for staff only will always go to the staff email/phone. Posts sent to both staff and parents will default to the parent email/phone.

How to Complete a Form from a Web Browser

  1. Log into ParentSquare.
  2. Find the post with the form.
  3. ClickComplete Formand fill out the form.

StudentSquare for 6th-12th graders

Accessing StudentSquare for Grades 6-12

Students in grades 6-12 can log on to their own StudentSquare accounts. This allows them access to a number of ParentSquare features.

Students can:

  • Receive translated direct messages from their teachers either by email or the StudentSquare app
  • Receive group posts from their teachers or school, either by email or the StudentSquare app
  • Access to the school calendar through the StudentSquare app

FAQ

How do I change my password?
You can click on "Forgot Password?" on the sign-in screen and a link to reset password will be sent.

On a browser, click on your name to update your language preferences. On the app go to Account > Preferences from the menu.

Seesaw and Canvas

Seesaw and Canvas are our primary tools for communicating with families about classroom instruction: grades, assignments and instructional resources. ParentSquare will now be the primary way that we do communicate about non-instructional issues in the classroom, school and district.

How doesParentSquare work?

ParentSquare automatically generates an account for each parent, using the primary email address and phone number you gave your school office (also the email used by Family Access). If you do not remember the email address you used, please contact your school office and they can provide it. We encourage parents to access their accounts so they can download the mobile app and update their preferences on when and how they are notified.

Howis my communication managed?

You can receive communication from the district, school and classroom by email, text, app or the ParentSquare website. To reduce the amount of messaging that you get each day, we have set the ParentSquare default to digest, which willcollect all of the communication from the district, school and classroom for all of your students into one message a day. We have also turned on text as a feature for all parents. You can change your notification preferences including your preferred language of communication on your ParentSquare account page.
