Nursing Compact State

RN License Application

The Alabama Board of Nursing issues single and multi-state licenses as part of the NLC. Nurses can apply for licensure by examination or endorsem*nt online.

The requirements for all nursing licenses include providing your social security number, identifying information, and an official transcript. Applicants must also answer questions about citizenship, criminal history, substance use, and disciplinary actions.

RN License Renewal

Nurses can renew a single-state or multi-state license online. Renewal applications open on September 1 and close on December 31. Applications require 24 CE hours, answers to regulatory questions about legal or disciplinary actions, and a non-refundable application fee.

Licensure renewal ends on November 30 of even-numbered years. If you do not renew your license by this date, then you must go through the reinstatement process. Renewal requires either 30 CE hours and 320 hours of employment or 60 CE hours. Licenses are subject to random mandatory CE audits.

License renewal in Arizona requires that nurses have graduated from their initial education or an advanced practice program, practiced for at least 960 hours, or completed an approved refresher course in the last five years.

RNs must renew their licenses every four years in Arizona. You can complete the renewal process six months before to 30 days after the due date. After 30 days, you must submit a late fee.

RN License Renewal

Nurses may renew their licenses online and receive instructions in the mail approximately 60 days before the license expires. Licenses must be renewed every year. Every six years, all nurses must complete two CE hours on screening for depression, grief, risk of suicide, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and two CE hours on suicide prevention.

RN License Renewal

Nurses receive an email renewal notice months before the expiration date explaining how to access the renewal process in DELPROS. Licenses expire in February, May, or September of odd years, depending on when they were originally issued.

Applicants must log in to their account, answer questions, and pay a fee with a credit card. Workforce data needed to meet compliance regulations is gathered through the applicant’s Nursys account.

License renewal requires 1,000 practice hours in five years or 400 practice hours in two years to qualify for license renewal. RNs must also submit CE hours. The number of required hours for the first renewal depends on whether the license was initially by examination or endorsem*nt.

Necessary documents include name change documents, screening questions, COVID-19 information, and CE hours. The District of Columbia requires the number and type of CE hours, including COVID-19 vaccine CE hours.

RN licenses expire on your birthday in even-numbered years. The license is valid until the next renewal cycle when it’s issued within three months of the birthday. Applicants who have not completed a course on diagnosis, treatment, and care of patients with cognitive impairments must complete the training.

Renewal requires the RN to attest, under penalty of perjury, they are of good moral character and will uphold mandatory abuse reporting laws. Applicants must also complete 15 CE hours.
