Procedure[edit]

  • Identity cards to the retired employees / State Government employees / pensioners shall be issued by the respective Administrative Departments, Heads of Departments and District Head Office through their respective authorized officers based on the applications submitted by the retired / retiring employees.
  • The pensioners of Employee Pension Scheme (EPS) are provided with a unique number or a code called Pension Payment Order (PPO) and is allotted by the “EPFO” to every employee who retires from any organization.
  • After retirement, The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) sends a letter to every retiring employee carrying details of PPO.


Apply In-Person:

  1. Once they got their Pension Payment Order (PPO), then they need to meet their respective administrative department officials where they served.

    • In case if you have forgotten your PPO number, you can make use of the below steps under “Apply online to get PPO” to get the PPO number.
  3. Go to the respective office.
  4. Collect the application form or write on a plain A4 sheet as advised. Usually the format is served by the administrative staff.
  5. Application form can also be downloaded using the following link: link please refer page number 2 or 3 as per requirement.
  6. Complete the application form. Attach the entire required documents as per our “Required Documents” section and submit it to the designated authority.
  7. Authorities will check the attached documents and submitted application.
  8. If all are in place then this application will be processed further. Authorities will forward this request to the concerned issuing authority for issuance.
  9. Once the Pensioner Identity Card is ready with seal and signature of the issuing authority, it will be hand delivered or sent through post to the address mentioned while applying or issued as per applicable norms.


Apply online to get PPO

  1. Please go to: online portal
  2. In the given page please click “Pensioners' Portal” option under Online Services on the left part of the screen to reach another page.
  3. Please click “Knows your PPO No.” option on the left part of the screen. Please select “Bank Acc.No. Search” or “Mem. ID Search” option as applicable.
  4. Based on selection a new set of prompt will be provided. Please enter the required details at the prompted space and click “Submit” button.
  5. The result shows PPO details.


To download pension card online

  1. Please go to the online portal: link
  2. In the given page please select “Pensioners information” option.
  3. User will reach a new page. Here select “Pensioners ID Cards” hyperlink.
  4. In the resulting page please enter the PPO ID at the prompted space and click “Choose File” button against “Upload photo:” to upload photo and click “Submit” button to get the pensioner card.
  5. Please download and print it using the on screen options as appropriate.
Note:Applicant has to bring original documents while applying for verification and scanning if required.

Eligibility[edit]

The pensioners of Employee Pension Scheme (EPS) are eligible to apply for this card.

Fees[edit]

Information on fees and charges for issuing pensioner ID card will be provided by respective authority while applying.

Validity[edit]

  • This card is valid for a period of ten years from the date of issue or as per the norms fixed by respective state department.
  • The validity will be invariably mentioned in the card itself.
  • Cards will be renewed for another 5 years or as per the norms in every time of renewal if necessary.

  • Fill the form carefully and submit it along with the mentioned documents.
  • Fill the application with proper spelling.
  • Attach the valid documents to get approval.

  • Post held at the time of retirement

  • Last Pay drawn
  • Pension Payment Order (PPO) number and date

Need for the Document[edit]

  • Pensioners Identity Card will enable them to secure entry into their ex office and other Government offices.
  • Your Pensioners Identity card helps in recognizing the cardholder as a pensioner and also helps in availing government sponsored benefits and plans.

Information which might help[edit]

  • As a pensioner, it is your responsibility to make sure that the bank has recorded the Pension Payment Order (PPO) number in the passbook.
  • If you forgot your PPO number or want to find PPO, you can get it easily from your bank account number or using your Member ID.
