But here's where it gets truly remarkable: Surtani has brokered a truce to foster open collaboration on a foundational element for what's known as agentic AI. This ambitious effort has materialized into the Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF), launched under the esteemed Linux Foundation. What began with 60 companies signing on has rapidly expanded to a coalition of 130 organizations! This impressive group includes tech behemoths like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon, alongside major players like Cloudflare and Bloomberg. Even Chinese tech giant Alibaba has joined, with many more in the process of signing up.
And this is the part most people miss: Surtani's motivation isn't about personal gain, but about safeguarding against a future where AI's immense potential is stifled by monopolistic control. He's essentially building a public square for AI development, ensuring that the building blocks of future AI are accessible to all.
