Getting Started with C++

There is not only one use of editor but there are multiple uses. Moreover, the editors or the text editors are the software(s) that enables us to make new text files or edit those text files at the same time. However, in the programming field, the word editor commonly denotes the source code editors that comprise numerous special features for the writing and the editing of the codes. Notepad and WordPad are 2 of the many popular editors that we use on the Windows Operating System.

Types of Editors

There are basically 5 types of editors:

  • Line editor: In this, we can only edit a single line at a time or an integral number of the lines. Moreover, we can’t have a fluent sequence of the characters. It will take care of only a single line. For example Teleprinter & edlin.
  • Stream editors: In these, the file is treated as a nonstop flow or sequence of the characters at the place of the line numbers, furthermore which means that here we can write paragraphs. For example Sed editor (in UNIX).
  • Screen editors: In these types of editors, we can see the cursor on the computer screen and we can create a copy, cut, and paste operation effortlessly. Moreover, it is way too easy for us to use the pointer of the mouse. For example: vi & emacs.
  • Word Processor: Killing the boundaries of the screen editors, it permits us to use some format to attach the images, files, videos, use font, size, and style features. Moreover, it strongly focuses on Natural language.
  • Structure Editor: The structure editor has its focus only on the programming languages. However, it delivers features for writing and editing the source code. For example Netbeans IDE & gEdit.

Some Other Editors:

Full-Screen Editors: In PCs, a full-screen editor is a text editor that occupies a full-screen display with the purpose of side-lining us from the operating system and other applications as well.

Multiple Window Editor: The multiple window editor lets us work on more than a single file at a time and cut and paste the text from the file to another file through yanking and putting.

Buffer: Buffer holds the text that we want to edit. However, the text might come from a file or a fresh new text that we want to write on a file.

Windows: The windows offer a view to the buffer to perceive what the buffer is holding and edit it with some modification.

User Interface of Editors

The user interface of the editors usually means the input or the output and the interaction language. Moreover, we use the input devices to enter text or some data into a document or for processing some commands. Thus, you see there is a lot of use of editor.

Question 1: Is Notepad ++ capable of running C++?

Answer: We can now easily compile and run C++ programs within Notepad++. Furthermore, for testing the setup, we have to copy the following program into a new Notepad++ tab and save that file as ‘hello’.

Answer: C++ is one of the free C++ ide and it supports many extensions for including new languages, themes, and much more. Moreover, we can also use the visual studio code (VSC) on Windows and Macintosh OS. It offers the best C++ compiler and we can also control several versions of a single program effortlessly.

Question 3: What is ‘C++’ written in?

Answer: The C++ Standard library is written in C++ because the maximum of its application uses templates. Moreover, in a typical case, the C standard library is written mainly in C.
