This page refers to the advanced planning features that are only available as part of Jira Software Cloud Premium and Enterprise.

We have a separate section for documentation about the project timeline that’s included in all Jira Software projects. Go to the documentation for project-level roadmaps in Jira Software.

With the timeline section of your plan visible, select the dependency icon on either side of the schedule bar to show all of the dependencies attached to that issue. When your plan is set to show Badges, these icons are always visible on your timeline. If you have your plan set to show dependencies as Lines, they only show when you hover over the schedule bar.

Regardless of how you get there, selecting the icon will bring up this window:

In this flyout, you’ll find the following information:

  • Type- “is blocked by” denotes an incoming dependency while “blocks” denotes outgoing

  • Issue- Issue details of the dependent issue

  • Status

  • Assignee

  • Lead time- The number of days between the dependent issues

  • Filter by dependencies- Hides other issues on your timeline to highlight this dependent chain
