Is an AP score of 4 good enough for an Ivy League? (2024)

Hey guys, I recently got my AP scores and got a 4 on one of them. I know it's not the highest score possible, but is it good enough for Ivy League schools? Should I report it on my application, or will it hurt my chances since it's not a 5? Thanks in advance!

Hey there! Congrats on your AP scores! Getting a 4 on an AP exam is definitely still an accomplishment, and it's important to remember that schools look at your entire application when making decisions.

As far as reporting your score to Ivy League schools, each school may have a slightly different preference, but generally, a 4 is considered a 'well-qualified' score and should not necessarily hurt your chances. In fact, many colleges and universities even offer credit or advanced placement for scores of 4.

I'd recommend you include your AP score of 4 on your application, especially if it's in a subject area related to your intended major or area of interest. Remember, your overall academic achievements, extra-curricular activities, essays, and recommendations all play a role in the admissions process, so focus on presenting a well-rounded application. Best of luck!
