    Panda fan says:

    Hey. I was just looking up national panda day and found this. I have always loved pandas and have always found the need to have more panda stuff. A friend asked me when I will grow out of this panda phase only I think it is not a phase. My room is covered in pandas and like this article says I like peace much more than fighting and pandas are always lingering somewhere in my mind. The thing is I am a proud Christian and this spirit animal stuff almost seems like a whole other religion, which makes me uncomfortable. Help?

      Bernadette King says:

      Hi, Panda Fan;

      I am sorry you feel uncomfortable. However, I can assure you of two things:

      1. Your love of Pandas is not a phase. Just like we are born with certain personality traits, we are born with certain ‘Totem Animals’ – especially within zodiac signs. You love Panda Bears because your Totem Animal is a Panda – it’s who ‘you are’.

      2. Spirit, Totem, and Power Animals are not associated with nor are they a ‘religion’. All spirit animal guide energy comes from the observance of and identifying with the animal kingdom that lives outside us as well as our own animal nature.

      Hope that helps!

    I’m so grateful for this information, Bernadette! This is the first compilation of information I’ve seen on the Panda bear as a spirit animal. Bear has been calling me for the past year, and while many other animals have joined and shared their messages with me, I had forgotten about my childhood love of pandas until now. Especially Tare Panda, the floppy japanese cartoon version who looks like a pancake–used to be my favorite shirt. XD Feels important to be exploring this as I reclaim my Chinese heritage as an ABC (American-Born Chinese).

    Pandas are so cute and I am grateful for this message of peace from the western grizzly bear’s cousin. Thank you for sharing your writing here.

      Hi, I have always thought that I would be a Wolf Spirit, since I love them so much and relate to them. I have wolf figurines and photos all over my place. Almost to a fault. My spirit animal came up Panda also. The description of the Panda spirit fit me almost perfectly. I would consider a Panda being a Libra, balancing scales no matter what. I am a Libra. I just wanted to share this with you since we love wolves and are actually Pandas, lol.

    Hi, I’ve always loved pandas from a very young age. I admire the symbolism associated with the the panda which, it’s how I want to live my life day by day. Although I’m not sure who my spirit animal is, I still want to follow the panda as I have had a great fondness for them for a long time. I hope that’s alright as I don’t see any conditions where in you absolutely cannot follow a certain animal’s nature unless it’s your own. I have been in a pretty dark place recently and I slowly came out of it by actually learning and watching videos of pandas. Even though they were just silly videos and I have never really met a panda in all my life, I was able to finally be more at peace within myself with the help of the panda. In honor of the pandas, I am planning to get a tattoo of a panda on my arm to remind myself to practice peace, balance and self-love in my life.
