Should I Become a Freight Broker? ⋆ (2024)

Do you wonder whether or not you should become a freight broker?

If you’re here, that means you want to specialize in auto transport and you’ve probably done some sort of “research” on the industry.

Before we get into whether or not this industry is right for you, we need to cover one thing, the difference between an auto transport broker and a freight broker.

Become a Freight Broker vs Auto Transport Broker

Without getting too much into the difference between the two, we need to cover the very basic principles.

An auto transport broker is a freight broker. If you want to become an auto transport broker, you need to take the same steps one would take to become a freight broker. Although I covered this in a previous video, it’s important you understand this core concept.

Now the difference lies in the training, the difficulty of the job and the amount of time it takes to succeed in each section of the industry.

Taking freight broker training won’t prepare you for the auto transport industry just as taking auto transport broker training definitely won’t prepare you for the general freight industry.

As far as difficulty goes, being a freight broker is hard work. Not saying auto transport is a walk in the park, but I’m comparison? Well, it’s more like a walk in Central Park. Easy to walk but can take forever if you get lost and you don’t know where you’re going.

Finally, it takes a lot longer to gain any traction and see any sign of success when you’re doing general freight. Whereas in auto transport, you can come in and make money within the first few weeks.

The key thing to remember here is that again, an auto transport broker is a freight broker just some one who focuses on moving cars.

As you’ll notice in the video, I talk about auto transport more specifically however, in this particular instance, it can still apply to freight brokers. So don’t close your screen just yet!

Good, so with that out the way, let’s talk about whether or not you should become a freight broker.

There’s many ways to determine whether the industry is right for you, but I’ve broken it down to the three most relevant and most important of them all.

So if you’re interested in finding out if you should take the leap and become a freight broker, then you should take a peek at this weeks episode of ReloGeek TV.
